Each manufacturer of a PROFIBUS-DP class 1 master provides configuration software for configuring the class 1 master, which knows the internal data structure of the class 1 master and thus of the control. During configuration, the GSD files required in each case must be made known to the configuration software. This is usually done by reading in the GSD files with the tool or copying them into a corresponding directory. When configuring a system, the configuration software interprets the data of the GSD file for the selected field device. Furthermore, plausibility checks are already carried out to ensure that the configuration data are logically correctly structured.
