Check that the maximum torque is not exceeded with the motor at full load:
Formula: Torque (Nm) = (power (kW) x eta (%) x 9550) / output speed (min-1)
eta (%) = efficiency of the gearbox
The efficiency is decisive for the design of an application and is influenced by the gearing data. In the overview of gearing data, you will find values for dynamic (n1=1400) and static efficiency. Please note that these table values are only valid after the running-in period. In a gearbox with dynamic self-locking, the output shaft comes to an immediate standstill when the worm shaft is no longer driven. The theoretical requirement for dynamic self-locking is a dynamic efficiency ETAd<0.5. With static self-locking, it is not possible to start up from a standstill with a driving output shaft. Static self-locking is present with a static efficiency ETAs<0.5. In the overview, the information on self-locking is only given as a guide value. The conditions can be affected by vibrations or shocks. When testing the self-locking of double worm gearboxes, it should be noted that the overall efficiency is the product of the two individual efficiencies, i.e. ETAg = ETA1 x ETA2.
OPERATION AND RUNNING-IN
- To achieve the best performance, the gearbox must be run in during the first few hours of operation by gradually increasing the power; during this phase, a rise in temperature is considered normal.
- In the event of malfunctions, noises, oil leaks, etc., the gearbox must be shut down immediately and the cause rectified if possible. Alternatively, you can send the part to our factory for inspection.
MAINTENANCE
- The worm gearboxes from size 25 to size 90 and the pre-stage modules are lubricated with synthetic permanent oil and therefore require no maintenance.
- The size 110 and 130 gearboxes are lubricated with mineral oil and are fitted with a breather plug. The oil level must therefore be checked regularly and, if necessary, topped up with the same oil or an oil that is compatible with that specified in our catalogue.
- For size 110 and 130 gearboxes, the oil must be replaced after the first 300 hours of operation, with the correct quantity according to the installation position, as indicated in our catalogue, after the inside of the gearbox has been thoroughly cleaned.
